Hello ! My name is Darryl Miles and I am the managing directo f Miles Immobilier EURL. We are English run French registered estate agents based in Normandy.
I cover Lower Normandy and touch the Mayenne and Brittany and Julie is now expanding our coverage in Provence. We are both bi-lingual and have many years experience in the field of estate agency in France.
Our clients from the UK who are purchasing in France prefer to deal with English speaking agents. We offer the dual advantage of being English so language skills are non-existent and we also have local knowledge.
About Miles Immobilier - Background
We are internet based as nowadays most clients tend to go straight to the internet to look for suitable properties. The days have gone where clients would search for properties by walking from one estate agents window to another one to find their ideal property.
Julie used to work for a local estate agency in Normandy but joined Miles Immobilier EURL shortly after we set up in 2014. Darryl had worked as an agent commercial previously for two other agencies but wanted to develop his own agency. We both have a good grounding in the world of finance from previous working in the UK. Darryl ran his own broking business in the Uk and attended universities at Aston, Hull and L Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Lyon.
About Miles Immobilier - The website
First of all our properties are in price bands. For properties in the north the price bands are in 50 000 tranches with the first tranche being 0 – 100 000 euros.
As properties in Provence are more expensive the price bands cover wide range of prices which reflect the local market.
Alternatively if you are looking for something specific in terms of a feature – for example an equestrian property or a property with a ground floor bedroom we have several special features you can click on to save you going through all the different price bands.
If you look at any property page you will see the property has been rated for energy efficiency (see photo on left) and also for CO2 emissions (see photo on right). What ever house you buy in France you will receive the energy rating before you sign a compromis.
Maps - Location of nearest town/ village
Again each of our property pages will have a map showing approximate location of the property. This helps to plan the itinary between viewing several properties – helps to visualise distances from ferries, towns, shops and amenities etc… using google
About Miles Immobilier - 360 Degree Tours
We are currently trying to update photos by using 360 views.
The external 360 degree shot gives a panoramic view of the property from an elevated position. These help to get a feel for the property and the proximity of things like roads, neighbouring properties are easy to estimate.
We also do tours where one 360 degree shot leads into another to help your viewing experience on the website. Video clips are also a new feature we are working on.
Local Video Clips
Where possible and available we try and get a video clip – typically from Youtube. This could be giving you a video about the town or maybe an event, concert or a fete.
This way you get a feel for the atmosphere of the area – its not just the property you are buying.
Role of the estate agent in France
The role of the estate agent in France differs from the UK as we offer a much wider and deeper range of services. From your initial enquiry we can help you plan your visit – helping you get a discount on the ferry, using our local knowledge to find quaity accommodation (click here for our accommodation page) near the properties to be viewed.
Now realistically you would need to open a French bank account before you sign for a property in France. Not only can we make the appointment for you but can help you translate with you when you are at the appointment with the bank manager. Knowing the area is big advantage as often viewers spend a full day with us – we can plan out the journey and make your viewings go smoothly. Often there s alot happening behind the scenes…getting keys, checking with vendors etc…
